Normalizing Conversations Around Mental Health
If you’ve been following along on our Instagram page, I’ve been sharing mental health nuggets from my own personal journey. I’ve linked the series below, do check it out and “chai-me” in on what your experience has been, I’d love to hear from you.

It’s Chai Time!
I’m South Indian, so I don’t drink tea first thing in the morning, it’s usually my mid-morning or most often mid-afternoon elixir of choice. After moving away from home, I craved the sense of warmth that only chai and home can bring, that’s when I discovered, a local, South Asian, tea brand, Kolkata Chai & Co. I swear by their Rose Masala Chai blend, which is a mix of dried rose petals, green cardamom, black pepper & clove — leaving me with not much to do in the spice department!
1 Large knob of fresh ginger, grated (I’ve tried crushing it, it’s just not the same intensity)
3 Tsps of tea powder
1 Tsp of sugar
1 cup of water
1 cup of milk
I start by grating ginger and then bring the water to a slow boil. Then add the tea powder, followed by milk and sugar — let it simmer for a good 10minutes. Yes, I set a timer, place a wooden spoon across my chai(to stop it from boiling over) vessel and wait! Strain, sip and enjoy!
Reflecting on our Journey…
Looking back to when we started, the underpinnings of mental health have been part of many chaiversations on the podcast. Starting all the way back to Season 1, Spiritual and Personal Growth During the Pandemic.
Later on in Season 2, we interviewed Life Coach, Nameeta Jagtiani, who’s inspiring life journey of pain and healing, led her to make it her life’s mission to spread the light.
We also had pleasure of learning so much about mental health and South Asian mental health from Ragini Jha, founder of Cardamom Counseling.
What our listeners have to say!
Much Needed Break!
Tuning into Shwetha and Rema is like joining a good old coffee klatch where the talk has a warm, chai flavor. Great for anyone who’s curious about the how two modern professional South Asian women evolve as they become part of the fabric of the west, New York City in particular, while reimagining and maintaining the traditions their families gave them for their young children. You don’t have to be from that part of the globe to appreciate the immigrant experience. Almost all Americans have an immigrant story; Shwetha and Rema’s is at once warm-hearted, thoughtful and significant.
That’s it for now, I will be back in your inboxes next month with new episodes, exciting updates and so much more.
PS: Chai is best when shared with friends, so spread the love and help us grow our “Your Vibe, Your Tribe” community.
See you next month!
